In the crowded world of budget mechanical keyboards, it takes something special to stand out. The MechLands Vibe75 V2 does just that, packing enthusiast-grade features like a gasket-mounted design and a customizable screen into a package that costs just $80. But is it all just for show, or is this the new king of budget keyboards? I’ve spent the last few weeks finding out.

The unboxing is clean and simple, providing you with the essentials to get started:

  • User Manual
  • The Vibe75 V2 Keyboard
  • A braided USB-C to USB-A cable
  • A combination keycap and switch puller

Design and Build

The Vibe75 V2 uses a 75% layout, which is a fantastic middle-ground for those who want a compact keyboard without sacrificing the dedicated function row (F1-F12) or arrow keys. It saves significant desk space compared to a full-size board, giving your mouse more room to move.

The entire chassis is made of a sturdy ABS plastic. While it doesn’t have the cold, hefty feel of an aluminum keyboard, the build is solid, with no creaking or flex. I have the Black version, which looks clean and professional. On the front edge, you’ll find two physical toggle switches—one for the OS (Mac/Windows) and one for the connection mode (Wired/2.4GHz/Bluetooth)—which is incredibly convenient.

A thoughtful design touch is the integrated storage slot for the 2.4GHz dongle, hidden neatly on the back. It keeps the dongle secure and out of sight when not in use.

The most eye-catching feature is the small color TFT screen in the top-right corner. At this price, it’s a game-changer. Out of the box, it displays useful information like the time, date, battery level, and connection status.

But its real magic lies in customization. Using the software, you can personalize the screen to display custom text, weather widgets, or even your favorite anime GIFs, adding a layer of fun and personality that’s unheard of on an $80 keyboard.

Connectivity

The Vibe75 V2 features triple connectivity modes Wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless. I’ve been using it for several days across all three modes. First, I tried the wired connection, which is super responsive with zero lag. Then I switched to the 2.4GHz mode using the included receiver — just plug it into your PC, toggle the switch, and it connects within seconds. No lag on this mode either, everything feels smooth.

Next, I tested the Bluetooth connection. To pair it, you need to press FN + W to make the keyboard discoverable on your device. Once visible, just click to connect quick and easy. The Bluetooth performance is also quite responsive. It’s not as fast as the 2.4GHz connection, but still perfectly fine for productivity and light gaming.

Overall, I haven’t faced any issues with connectivity. Everything works great across all modes.

Keycaps & Switches

This is where the Vibe75 V2 truly feels more expensive than it is. It uses a gasket-mounted structure, a design typically found in high-end custom keyboards. Instead of the keyboard plate being screwed directly to the rigid case, it’s cushioned by soft gaskets.

What this means for you:

  • A Softer Feel: Each keypress has a slight, cushioned flex, which reduces finger fatigue during long typing sessions.
  • A Better Sound: The gaskets absorb vibrations, eliminating any harsh, metallic pinging. This, combined with five internal layers of sound-dampening foam, results in a deep, quiet, and satisfying “thocky” sound.

The keyboard also features high-quality Cherry Profile Double-shot PBT keycaps. In simple terms, they are durable, ergonomically shaped, and have legends (the letters) that will never fade or wear off. The result is a comfortable and premium-feeling typing experience right out of the box.

The only real downside is inherent to the 75% layout: you lose some keys. For me, the lack of a dedicated Print Screen button was the most noticeable omission, as I use it frequently for work.

Battery Life

The Vibe75 V2 has a 4000mAh battery, which is huge for a keyboard. As I’ve been using it for several days now, I have to say it delivers really good long-lasting performance. Even with features like the TFT screen and RGB backlight turned on, it holds up pretty well. I didn’t turn off the RGB lights and used them at different brightness levels and different speeds, and still got around 90 hours of usage, which is impressive.

One small issue I noticed is with the battery status on the screen sometimes while I’m working, it shows half battery and then suddenly turns off, and when it turns back on, it shows full battery. After about 5 minutes, it goes back to the original battery status. I’m not sure why this happens, but maybe it’ll get fixed in a future update.

Final Verdict: Who Should Buy the MechLands Vibe75 V2?

The MechLands Vibe75 V2 is an incredible package and an easy recommendation. It brings a fun, feature-rich, and genuinely premium-feeling typing experience to a price point that is accessible to almost everyone.

You should buy this keyboard if:

  • You are on a budget but want high-end features like a custom screen and gasket mount.
  • You want a keyboard that is great for both productivity and gaming.
  • You love to customize your setup and want a keyboard with personality.
  • A comfortable and quiet typing experience is important to you.

However, you might want to look elsewhere if:

  • You absolutely cannot live without a dedicated numpad or specific keys like Print Screen.
  • You prefer the ultra-premium weight and feel of an all-metal keyboard.

For just $80, the minor quirks are easy to forgive. The Vibe75 V2 isn’t just a good deal; it’s one of the best all-around mechanical keyboards you can buy for under $100.
